What Is A Salt Glow?

The Salt Glow, also called the Spa Glow or Sea Salt Scrub, is similar to a body polish in that it is an exfoliation treatment. But there are many differences between the two as well. In a salt glow, Dead Sea salt is used exclusively for an entire session (usually a half hour), rather than a combination of exfoliating ingredients. This makes the treatment more intense because of the granularity of the salt. Male visitors to spas are often fans of this treatment because it is so highly stimulating to rough, neglected skin.

Most salts, including the BIOTONE SPA Exfoli-Sea Salt Glow ingredients, used in exfoliation treatments that come from the Dead Sea in Israel. With ten times the salt of sea water, The Dead Sea offers high concentrations of the following minerals: Magnesium Chloride for fluid retention & stress; Potassium Chloride for sore muscles; Calcium for pain relief. They also help relieve minor aches and pains, nervous stress, and psoriatic skin.

The Dead Sea crystals are the perfect size for a stimulating yet not-too-abrasive scrub. They are more powerful than other exfoliating agents, though, and people with sensitive skin should approach them with caution. Clients should not to shave their legs 12 hours prior to a salt glow!

By itself or combined with other spa services, such as massage, an exfoliation treatment of this kind can be a wonderfully rejuvenating experience. If this sounds good to you and you don't have a skin condition that would cause excessive discomfort when receiving a salt glow, check with your favorite local spa to see if it’s offered.
